Installing your new filter

  1. The label side of the filter is the out flow side. In other words, the label side should be facing in.
  2. PollenTEC filters are manufactured in size to be a half inch less than the actual listed size. This is standard throughout the industry. Example 20 x 20 x 1 will be sized at 19.5 x 19.5 x .75
Installing Your Filter

In some cases the sheet metal screws may not have been properly seated in your HVAC system. This may interfere with your filters ability to fit correctly. This may not have been an issue with a paper filter because they can be bent and forced into place. It may be an issue with just a single screw or two. If you are having this issue we suggest the following, replace with flat head sheet metal screws.

Cleaning your filter

  1. Remove filter from your HVAC unit
  2. Using a vacuum with a soft brush attachment. Gently vacuum in a vertical direction until clean.
  3. Using a garden hose, or sink sprayer, spray entire filter surface. Start cleaning from the inside facing or the side with steel rod supports. Using maximum spray force with a garden hose is not necessary.
    If you choose to vacuum your filter, keep in mind it is recommended to wash it a few times per year.
  4. Gently wipe off filter panels with a dry towel. We recommend that you let them air dry for a little while.
  5. A mild soap can be used, It is recommended that you wash your filter more often during high use or when living in high dust areas.

1. How often should I clean my PollenTEC filter?
Answer: At a minimum at least once a month. During high use this will allow for maximum air flow to your HVAC system, which in turn allows it to run more efficiently. This helps reduce your energy bill. By the way, this will keep the air you breath in your home much cleaner.

2. What if I clean it twice per month, is that even better? Answer: Yes it would be. If you live in areas of the country were it`s very dusty and windy or in states where pollen can be very high, it definitely would be to your benefit.

3. How long will the PollenTEC filter last? Answer: The frame is made from light weight steel and painted with a powder coating process. Powder coating is commonly used on outdoor furniture because of to its ability to withstand the outdoor elements. The PollenTEC material is made from tightly woven 100% polyester material. The Pollen Tec filter should easily last five years with proper care and cleaning. In most cases, it will last a great deal longer.

4. How much money can I save over a five year period using the PollenTEC filter? Answer: A disposable filter will cost on average between $5 and $19.00. You should normally change them at least every other month at a minimum. The PollenTEC filter will easily pay for itself within one year. When compared to using a disposable filter your savings will add up to hundreds of dollars over five years. Not only a savings of your hard earned money, but you removing dozens of filters from countries land fills. Homes using multiple returns can save several hundred dollars annually.

5. Has the PollenTEC filter been certified? Answer: Yes, it has been certified using the ASHRE 52.2. This tests air filters using established techniques employed by the U.S. National Bureau of Standards and the Air Filter Institute. The PollenTEC eco air filter is rated at a MERV 7.

6. Does the PollenTEC filter need to be disassembled for cleaning? Answer: No, it does not require any dis-assembly.

7. What happens if I damage the filter pad? Answer: Filter pad replacement is available and replacement of the pad is very easy. Filter media pad replacements will be listed as a separate item on our website soon.

8. Why are my filters not the exact size as on the label? Answer: PollenTEC filters are manufactured in size to be a quarter inch less than the actual listed size. This is due to the variations of construction of HVAC units. This is standard throughout the industry. Example 20 x 20 x 1 will be sized at 19.5 x 19.5 x .75
